Situated in Sandton, St David’s is a Marist, Catholic, Independent School for boys of all faiths.

To cater for ongoing growth, St David’s Marist Inanda seeks to appoint a dynamic experienced
Educator in the following position:

COLLEGE – HEAD OF SUBJECT MUSIC

The ideal candidate will:

  • display high levels of professionalism and commitment.
  • need to lead a dynamic department that is integral to the cultural identity of the school.
  • have a passion for the subject and for teaching.
  • oversee the planning and implementation of all curriculum-related activities in Grade 8 to 12.
  • be au fait with the latest trends in methodology, with sound technology skills.
  • have effective communication, organisational and administrative skills.
  • have a desire to be a lifelong learner
  • be able to integrate 21st-century skills of collaboration and critical thinking into the curriculum
  • chair the whole-campus music committee that ensures thorough coordination academically and extramurally of the prep and college music departments.
  • administer the music lesson programme by vetting visiting teachers, preparing monthly billing lists and communicating with parents.
  • prepare and manage departmental budget.
  • direct and facilitate multiple instrumental and vocal ensembles.
  • collaborate in the generation of interdisciplinary projects such as musical productions and arts showcases.
  • enrich the liturgical proceedings in the weekly Roman Catholic mass by providing organ accompaniment, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and solo performances.
  • have a SACE registration and appropriate teaching qualifications.
  • display an understanding of the Catholic and Marist values of the school.
  • adhere to our School ethos and value system.
