Campus Head: High School

Same-old education? No thank you. We want more, and so we do things differently at Skye College. Our vision is to develop learning communities that equip our students and teachers to thrive.

Individuals that thrive build and maintain meaningful relationships with others. They are deeply connected to the world, to nature and to themselves. They make a meaningful contribution, reach their full potential, and have good habits that lead to a balanced and resilient life.

We are looking for a principal to lead our Skye College High School campus. We are a growing school, and initially the High School Head would also lead our senior primary cohort – focused on implementing the Thriveway; a journey of learning opportunities and interactions that will prepare each learner with the competencies, knowledge and habits needed to thrive – today and in the future.

The Campus Head High School position will commence in January 2024, and recruitment is anticipated to conclude by end of June 2023. Please apply as soon as possible.

Remuneration will be market-related and dependent on the strength of the candidate (e.g., experience, qualifications, etc.).

Location of the position will be at Zeiss & Piet Retief Roads, Wilgespruit, Honeydew, Johannesburg.

Our ideal candidate will model what we call the “Summit Behaviours ” – the most effective leadership behaviours that will help us reach our True North. He or she is supportive, operates with a strong results orientation, seeks multiple perspectives, and solves problems effectively.

Our ideal candidate must also have at least

  • a recognised degree and/or a 4-year post-matric teaching qualification;
  • an excellent reputation and track record; at least 7 years of teaching experience;
  • at least 5 year’s experience in a senior management role.

He or she must have demonstrated success in implementing research-based internationally-minded educational best practices. Experience with Cambridge Curriculum and enquiry-based learning, and an honours degree or higher, will be advantageous. We will only accept applicants who are registered with SACE.

If this sounds like an opportunity you wish to pursue, please download and read the detailed job description and application instructions.

HOW TO APPLY

We will follow a four step appointment process:

  • Step 1: Apply by filling in the google form at this link. You will also attach your full CV. Please note this is a relatively extensive application form; you should set aside some time to consider several questions related to elements of an education to thrive, and how you would implement these.
  • Step 2: Once we have reviewed your application, we may contact you to schedule an interview.
  • Step 3: You may be required to complete a psychometric assessment to determine role fit.
  • Step 4: It is likely that you will complete a final interview with the Board.

We regret we cannot respond to unsuccessful candidates.
