Due to the retirement of the present incumbent, the School is seeking to employ a suitably qualified Boarding Nurse who will report directly to the Head of Boarding and in turn the Executive & Senior School Head.
The successful candidate’s attributes:
- Be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license and registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, preferably in adolescent healthcare or within a school or boarding environment.
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, with a preference for advanced life support training.
- Familiarity with common adolescent health issues, including chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Proven ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, with experience in developing and implementing emergency protocols.
- Experience in administering medications, including handling-controlled substances, and maintaining accurate medication records.
- Strong background in health education, with the ability to teach and promote healthy lifestyle choices to students and staff.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to schools, with experience in conducting health and safety audits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and external healthcare providers.
- Strong commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of student health records and sensitive information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including educators, administrators, and other support staff, to provide comprehensive care.
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, and dietary needs.
- Commitment to continuous professional development, with a willingness to attend training, workshops, and conferences relevant to school health services.
- Be computer literate
- Have a driver’s license and own vehicle. A PDP would be an advantage
- Be expected to live in the Boarding House on campus.
- Appreciate working in a values-driven environment
- Be required to uphold the traditions and ethos of the school.
