Assistant Manager: Aftercare

To start: 1 January 2020

St Peter’s is an independent, Anglican, Diocesan family of schools. We are fortunate to offer facilities equaled by few schools and are known for our innovative approach and the warmth of our community. We seek teachers who have are empathetic to children’s needs, who are creative and who show initiative.

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Aftercare Assistant to join the school from 1 January 2020.

Applications are invited from candidates who fulfil the following criteria:

Duties:

  • Ensuring the safety of the children by checking playground equipment and toys
  • Ensuring the children play safely
  • Planning, organising and supervision of children and various child-based activities
  • Supervision of homework
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining a clean, tidy and well-maintained facility
  • Ensuring high standards in every aspect of the afternoon supervision
  • Attending to children who are not well

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Matric
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal effectively in a crisis situation
  • Self-motivated, organized and energetic
  • Prepared to work according to the school’s ethos, specifications and policies.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and a car in the case of emergencies
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in childcare
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
