Commencement Date: January 2020

Redhill School is seeking to appoint an Accountant in the Finance Department, reporting to the Finance Manager.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the accounts to Trial Balance;
  • Assist with preparation of Management accounts monthly;
  • Financial control of Fixed Assets Register;
  • Review creditors, allocations and Creditors control reconciliation daily;
  • Review Debtors, Cashbook control accounts daily;
  • Reconciling the cashbook daily;
  • Review of Investment accounts and related journals monthly;
  • Preparation and review of monthly & adhoc journals;
  • Manage month end procedures;
  • Perform any other general accounting procedures;
  • Review of requisitions for compliance and preparation of forex payments;
  • Assist with preparation of Cash Flow projections, Audit file, Budgets, Taxation schedules, any other required financial reporting;
  • Assist with ensuring that all financial practices remain current and relevant;
  • Assist Academic and Operations staff with queries;
  • Oversee, train and assist finance department employees;
  • Manage and assist with annual statutory filing;
  • Interact with parents and staff in an approachable manner;
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes;
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining financial policies and procedures for the school;
  • Perform or assist with other bookkeeping functions when required and where it does not conflict with segregation of duties, such as preparing the cashbook, capturing creditors’ receipts and invoices, preparing payment batches, preparing deposits & filing & collecting debtors.

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Accounting Diploma or degree with five years bookkeeping experience
  • Experience in the Finance department of a school
  • Knowledge of education related financial nuances
  • Experience in Sage 300/Accpac accounting software & ADAM academic administration system
  • Highly numerate with a good understanding of Accounting processes and risks
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and bookkeeping programs
  • Understanding of Tax and Trusts, NPO & PBO statutory requirements
  • Computer literate; fully conversant with the current uses of information technology in the workplace and uses IT as a management tool
