Teacher Inductions and Professionalism

Instill Education invites you to the first in a series of interactive workshops around improving the quality of teaching and school leadership in South Africa.

Teacher inductions and professionalisation

Professor Sarah Gravett, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg, Dudu Makhari from 18 Area Education, and Des Hugo from Nova Pioneer will share insights from their work in the teacher and school leadership development space, followed by problem-solving break-out groups and Q&A.

Pizza, drinks and light snacks will be provided.

Goals of the workshop:

  • Discuss best practice around Effective CPTD, with a particular focus on inductions and professionalisation of teachers and school leaders
  • Bring together a collaborative community of education leaders

  • Date/time: Thursday, 1st August, 18h00 – 20h00 (doors open at 17h30)
  • Location: The Business Exchange, Rosebank (195 Jan Smuts Avenue)

Why this workshop?

Over the past 4 years we’ve been working on two things; getting accredited as a higher education institution and developing an impactful, evidence-based in-service professional development model. Throughout this process we have consistently heard the same messages. In all but the most exceptional of cases, teachers and school leaders aren’t receiving the professional development they need and schools don’t know where to turn for the right support. We hope that by bringing together the right people, we can strengthen networks and share ideas in an informal and collaborative setting.
