Sandra Jayne (Sandy) Sagar grew up, and attended school, in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal. She subsequently received her Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg while completing her articles. After passing her qualifying examinations she was admitted as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1985.

Sandy lectured at KZN University in the subjects of Accounting, Auditing and postgraduate Tax and Estate Planning. She also worked in commerce as a Financial Manager.  In 2004 an opportunity arose to move into a school environment when Epworth School were looking for an accounting teacher. She rose through the ranks and was the Deputy Head of the High school for five years before being asked to step into the Bursar’s role. This position she held for two years before joining ISASA as Director: Membership and Operations. Sandy retired from this position in March 2022.

Sandy is passionate about education. She has a particular interest in the development of teacher interns, staff development through training and assisting low-fee income schools in the independent sector.
