Nicky de Bruyn
With her PhD in Education Leadership, Dr Nicolette (Nicky) de Bruyn is the Executive Director of Uplands Outreach in White River, Mpumalanga.
For over a decade, Nicky has facilitated the professional development of over 100 school principals and deputies, who have received accredited training through a partnership with the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Education.
She has spent the majority of her career in the education non-profit arena, working intensively with school leadership and the professional development of educators to boost achievement in a non-threatening manner. Nicky has key strengths in education strategy, leadership mentoring, andragogy (adult learning), staff engagement, school cultures, and change management.
She has served on the Boards of Uplands, Africa Foundation, The Nature Conservation Trust, and the Howard G Buffett Foundation. Having published both academic and general articles,
Nicky is passionate about highlighting evidence-based best practices in education leadership – and has an abiding interest in the welfare, well-being, and ultimate success of school Heads.
Nicky is married and has a teenage son – and is never far from a book or nature.
