In terms of article 33.1 ((“The annual general meeting of the Council shall be called by not less than fifteen business days’ notice in writing.”)) of ISASA’s Memorandum of Incorporation, this serves as notice that the ISASA Council Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, 10 September 2023 at 08h35 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg.
According to articles 35.1 ((”Each of the office-bearers of ISASA shall be elected by the Council from amongst its members, save that the Honorary Treasurer need not be a member of the Council prior to his or her election but, if not, will become a member upon his or her election. Of the persons elected as chairperson or vice-chairpersons, one must be a head and one must be a Governor and they should, where possible, come from different regions.”)) and 35.2 ((“The election of the office-bearers of ISASA shall take place at the annual general meeting of the Council and the persons so elected shall hold office for one year from 1 January of the year immediately following the conclusion of the annual general meeting at which they were elected until 31 December of that year.”)) of ISASA’s Memorandum of Incorporation, at its annual general meeting, the ISASA Council must annually elect office-bearers, from amongst its members, to serve a one-year term. With the exception of the Honorary Treasurer, article 55.1 ((“Any person elected to hold any position or office under this Constitution shall be eligible for re-election to that position or office for a maximum of four consecutive terms of office. The fact that such person has served four consecutive terms shall not preclude him or her from holding any other position or office in ISASA after retiring therefrom nor shall it preclude him or her from holding that office again after the expiry of the term of office of his or her successor save for the person holding office as the Honorary Treasurer. The person holding office as the Honorary Treasurer shall be eligible for re-election to that office for a maximum of six consecutive terms of office . . . if on the occasion of each such election he or she will have been elected to that office by a majority of not less than two-thirds of the members of the Council personally present and voting at the meeting.”)) stipulates that any person who is elected to a position or office, may hold that office for a maximum of four consecutive terms.
