Managing Risk in Youth and School Trips

Recent tragic events and increasing risk aversion amongst educators and parent communities are causing stress and uncertainty in the planning of school trips. School trips are an important part of a learner’s education, and an international panel is currently writing a guidance standard to support schools.

Draft SANS/ISO 31031: Managing Risk for Youth and School Trips provides a clear process through which to understand, assess and treat risks in school excursions.

This process is designed to minimize the likelihood of incidents on trips, create a strategy to manage incidents should they occur, and collect documentary evidence of precautions taken.

Chrysalis Project has the unique position of representing South Africa on the international standard-drafting panel. We offer a two-day workshop (12 hours) for educators and sports coaches who may be asked to lead a trip on behalf of a school.

Costs: R1995 per person, (minimum 10 people) discounts available for larger bookings.
