The King David Schools have been promoting a campaign to acknowledge their teachers as the unsung heroes during the COVID-19 epidemic. Teachers have have had to put in many additional hours to facilitate remote learning, learn new skills themselves, become health and safety officers and in short, give their schools so much more of their focus than normal.
To quote Rabbi Craig Kacev, General Director of the South African Board of Jewish Education:
Heroism is, in my opinion, when ordinary people respond to difficult circumstances and overcome these by finding internal resources they were not previously aware of. Each and every one of you have had to dig deep in many ways. THANK YOU!
The King David campaign culminates in the release of a musical tribute: 33 of their staff, across all of their 11 schools, from all 5 campuses, have come together in collaboration, to honour the unsung heroes of the Corona Virus Pandemic – You our teachers. #CountOnYou
