Higher Order Thinking and Exam Preparation Workshop
How do your students know what you mean when you expect them to think at a higher and deeper level? Do they know what to do when you ask them to analyse or evaluate?
We have found that even when exams are set with higher order thinking questions, we as teachers are not always clear about the kind of questions and thinking words to use. Even then, it is seldom that we have prepared our students to respond appropriately.
Durban: Thursday, 22 August 2019 at Chelsea Preparatory School, 9.00 am to 3.30 pm
Johannesburg: Saturday, 14 September 2019 (venue to be confirmed), 9.00 am to 3.30
Cost: R1050 per delegate.
This practical workshop is aimed at developing a more intentional and explicit higher order thinking practice and culture in the classroom. It will be very useful in preparation for the upcoming exams, as well as for ongoing teaching and learning.
You will come away with:
A list of Power Words that elicit specific types of deeper thinking, and how to use them to develop Higher Order Questions in your curriculum
Knowing exactly what they mean
Being able to explicitly teach your students what type of thinking you expect from them
A richer understanding of how to use Blooms/Andersons Taxonomy in your exam preparation and your ongoing teaching
Practical guidelines to empower your students to respond more effectively to Higher Order Questions
Now is a great time to put this into action, so download the registration form below!
