COVID-19 and the Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme

The South African government is exploring a range of measures to assist businesses and workers during the COVID-19 crisis. One of the measures is the COVID-19 Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) benefit.

A revised Directive under the Disaster Management Regulations that will regulate these benefits was issued on 8 April 2020. These benefits will also be subject to the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement or standard terms, which are expected to be published soon.
