The Monday, 23 March 2020, statement by the President of the Republic which outlined the escalation of measures to combat the Covid-19 epidemic makes it necessary for us all to re evaluate how our schools will continue to function and deliver meaningful instruction in light of what could well be protracted periods of remote learning. There can be no doubt a speedy resolution to this crises is unlikely.
Far better then, to plan strategically for the long haul and be relieved if such plans can be abandoned sooner than expected. It is not business as usual and the calendar may need to be extensively revised in light of potentially protracted school closures.
