Covid-19 and Independent Schools: Workplace Matters

This 2-hour virtual session will assist schools in dealing with practical and employment issues relating to the Covid-19 lockdown and the re-opening of schools. It gives a broad overview of workplace compliance in terms of health and safety requirements, as well as employment and legal issues relating to the Lockdown and the return to work.

The webinar has been designed for ISASA member schools by an experienced labour/legal consultant and includes topics such as:

  • Health and Safety compliance – an overview
  • Vulnerable workers
  • Medical surveillance; COIDA
  • Remuneration and UIF
  • Adaptation of policies and rules
  • Leave
  • Remote work
  • Changes in terms and conditions of employment; retrenchments
  • Legal liability; POPIA
  • CCMA

Meeting type: Zoom (meeting link and password will be sent; NB: only registered delegates will be admitted to the course on the day)

Cost: R50 per person admin fee (schools will be billed after the workshop)

Facilitator: Judith Griessel, a labour lawyer with extensive experience in the independent school sector.
