The ISASA Retirement and Provident Funds wish to advise that John Liackman has stepped down as Chairperson of the ISASA Retirement and Provident Fund, effective 30 June 2023. The Board, Management and Staff of Old Mutual thank him for the years of loyal service and wish him every success for the future.
Deslin Naidoo has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Funds, effective 01 July 2023.
Deslin completed a B.Sc (Actuarial Science) and later a B.Comm (Hons) Cum Laude, both from the University of Cape Town, and is also a CFA charter holder.
He entered the investment industry at Old Mutual within the Quants Team which managed c. R50bn in index, structured product and hedging portfolios. Deslin co- created the Old Mutual Floor Fund, the first dynamically hedged CPPI fund in the country.
He subsequently joined Coronation Fund managers, to be seconded as a founding member of Kagiso Asset Managers in the role of Head of Research.
After a brief consulting stint, Deslin joined Alexander Forbes as Head of Investments and Analytics. This completed the circle for him as it relinked him with his undergraduate training. His main function was to manage and oversee all Alexander Forbes investments including the c.R65bn in assets for the AF Umbrella Fund.
Deslin has been a member of the ISASA Investment Sub-Committee for a few years and the Funds look forward to his contribution to the Board as Chairperson.
