Outward Bound South Africa has been achieving this mission through adventure-based learning interventions since 1992.

At Outward Bound our programmes are designed for impact - we create learning opportunities and help our participants to seize them. 

Metaphor for Life. We have proven the outdoors to be a profound metaphor for life expressed through activities that challenge the way young people see themselves and the world.

Beyond Insecurities. In a safe and closely monitored environment, we challenge young people to do things they have never done, to see things they have never seen and to go beyond their perceived boundaries.

Maximised Learning. We combine challenging activities with skilled facilitation and the latest thinking from around the world to maximise the learning experience.  Together with the outdoors and adventure activities, review and discussion take up a significant amount of the programme time to help transfer the learning to the home or school environment.

Outward Bound’s School Programmes are designed in line with outcomes based education.  These programmes cover Leadership, Personal Development, Team Effectiveness, courses in the Specialised Learning Areas, and courses for English Foreign Language groups.
