Heads

SAHISAThe Southern African Heads of Independent Schools Association (SAHISA) is a professional membership body for heads of independent schools. Any head of an ISASA member school may apply to become a member of SAHISA.

SAHISA is a constituent member of ISASA, and the SAHISA Chair is represented on the ISASA Executive Committee.

In addition to the national office-bearers, SAHISA also has regional chairs and committees in each of the five ISASA regions.

ISASA and SAHISA together present the annual heads' Conference.

  • History of SAHISA  ( 7 items )

The Southern African Heads of Independent Schools Association (SAHISA) can trace its origins back to the first conference of the representatives of Church Schools that met at St. Andrews School in Bloemfontein on 17 December 1929.

During the subsequent seventy-six years, the heads association underwent many changes. Much, however, has also remained constant. The following sections chronicle the development of SAHISA during the most turbulent periods in South African history.
