St Alban's

Systems Thinking and Systems Dynamics Workshop

St Alban's College
25-26 February 2010

Many of the local and global challenges that we are confronted with in the 21st century are embedded in interconnected systems. Our current shortage of electricity in South Africa and the global climate change versus economic development issues are examples of this reality.  There is no reason to believe that the world will become any simpler as we progress deeper into this century.

Addressing challenges of this complex nature will require moving beyond the limitations of the perspectives, methods and tools of traditional reductionist science.  If we are to equip our learners with the thinking skills needed for the future, Systems Thinking undoubtedly needs to be taught in schools.

This workshop is not only for Maths and Science teachers but also for Technology, Life Science, Geography, Business Studies, Accounting and History teachers.
