Educating a Generation of Critical Thinkers
Creston College Oslo Beach, KwaZulu-Natal Saturday 27th September 2008 07h30 – 16h50 Creston College and the National Institute for Learning Development invite you to attend a conference in September 2008. International and national guest speakers, with long-standing experience and a keen interest in the fields of learning and paediatrics, will present ground-breaking lectures on topics highly pertinent to educating children effectively at various stages of development in the 21st century. The development of critical thinking skills is part of the dynamic, interactive process of learning. Facilitating the development of critical thinking skills in our children during the learning process is imperative as they face the challenges of today. Can these skills be learned, and, if so, how and when should they be taught? Can effective tools for developing critical thinking skills be provided?
These and many other issues will be addressed by, amongst others, Dr. Kathleen Hopkins, the Executive Director of NILD, USA/NILD (The National Institute for Learning Development), is an organization dedicated to building the competence and confidence of learners by training educators to utilize a variety of methods which are designed to develop learning ability and strengthen cognitive functioning.
