TRADITION
Girls joining St Anne’s enter into a rich and colourful tradition, a heritage that began in 1877 and which, to this day, is very much part of the St Anne’s culture. St Anne’s is an Independent girls’ high school offering a quality education for Grades 8 to 12 (ages 13 yrs to 18 yrs). It is situated on a 50 acre campus in Hilton just outside Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
St Anne’s is an Anglican Foundation and the Bishop of Natal is the Visitor to the College which admits girls of all denominations. The spiritual life of the St Anne’s community is cared for by the School Chaplain.
BOARDING
A cornerstone of a boarding school such as St Anne’s is its House system. The girls, ninety percent of whom are boarders, are comfortably accommodated in six boarding Houses. Each house is cared for by a resident Housemistress who liaises closely with parents.
ACADEMIC
Excellent facilities at St Anne’s allow exciting academic programmes. The IT Centre provides all facilities including email and Internet access. A well-stocked library has an up-to-date collection of books and other media material.
The Theatre forms the focus of an extensive Drama programme. Music plays an important role in the tradition of the school. Our orchestra and Choirs delight audiences in many parts of the country.
SPORT
Excellent sporting facilities allows St Anne’s to offer wonderful opportunities including canoeing and equestrian. A modern Indoor Sports Centre provides valuable protection in unfavourable weather. A Synthetic Hockey Surface ensures that the high standard of hockey is maintained.
The Mission of St Anne’s Diocesan College is: To provide an excellent, balanced and globally relevant education in a caring environment which allows girls to develop to their full potential and to be guided by Christian principles, enabling them to leave the College confident and well-prepared for the future.
