Brescia House School is an independent Catholic day school for girls, situated in the heart of Bryanston, overlooking the lush green northern suburbs of the Johannesburg Metropolitan area.
The school offers an extensive preschool/Grade 0 programme where fully trained teachers gently prepare pupils for their scholastic career. Classes throughout the school are kept small and the emphasis is placed on providing each pupil with a secure, caring environment so that she can achieve her potential in all spheres of the curriculum, thus enabling her to become a confident, dynamic member of our changing society.
The school offers a wide range of academic subjects, and pupils are encouraged to participate in a variety of extramural sporting and cultural activities. Pupils are prepared for the GETC and Matriculation examinations set by the Independent Examinations Board, and Brescia House School is proud of its 100% pass rate.
Brescia House School has its roots in the Ursuline tradition of the Catholic Church. The school was started by the Sisters of the Ursuline Order at the request of the Bishop who felt a need for a Catholic girls’ school in the area. The school has gone from strength to strength in the past 40 years and has built an excellent reputation among private schools.
Pupils of any denomination are welcomed and are encouraged to explore all aspects of religion and personal spirituality. “Serviam”, which means “I shall serve”, is the motto of the school and a spirit of service to the community is encouraged in the pupils. The school boasts some of the finest facilities in the area, and these are constantly being upgraded to keep ahead of educational trends.
Any girl who is fortunate enough to attend this fine educational institution cannot help but be influenced by the beautiful, tranquil surroundings, the sound teaching methods and caring environment.
