LOCATION

Beaulieu Preparatory School is situated near Kyalami in the quiet, rural environment of the suburb of Beaulieu. This tranquil area is said to have the largest equine concentration in South Africa. Although the school draws pupils from further afield, there is a strong emphasis on community participation and involvement.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

Our staff are dedicated and enthusiastic professionals, being both well qualified and experienced. Class teaching is practiced from Grade 0 to Grade 4. Special subject teaching occurs at the Senior Preparatory. level. All aspects of a child’s development are covered by a balanced and varied curriculum.

The core subjects of English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences are taught alongside more modern subjects like Design and Technology, Computer Education, Media Education, Physical Education, Life Skills and Thinking Skills. Music, Art and Drama are also offered.

Our Multifaith approach encourages children to understand and respect the religion of others in our culturally diverse nation. Simultaneously, however, they are inspired to grow in their understanding and appreciation of their own faith.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

A large variety of sporting and cultural activities is offered at no cost to parents. These include cricket, soccer, netball, tennis, hockey, softball, athletics, swimming, chess, a junior and a senior choir, a jazzband and an orchestra. Extra cost activities include horseriding, judo, karate, ballet, Kumon Maths, pottery, tangonastics, golf and instrumental tuition (guitar, violin, cello, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums). Horse riding is a particularly well-supported activity and our Equestrian team acquits itself admirably at a competitive level.

PUPIL DEVELOPMENT

Each pupil is regarded as an individual to be nurtured and challenged to fulfill his or her potential in a wide range of spheres – social, artistic, spiritual, physical and academic. Our motto, Quaerite Astra (Reach for the Stars) is indeed apt. A leadership programme for all senior pupils has been implemented in place of a traditional prefect system. This allows pupils to develop initiative, as well as other organisational and leadership skills, within a culture of teamwork and mutual reliance.
