St Benedict's Boys

School Type: Boys

St Benedict's Preparatory School caters for boys from Grade 4 to Grade 7. It is the stated and sincere aim of the Preparatory School Staff to develop each boy in a holistic and balanced way. To this end, a wide range of Sporting and Cultural activities are offered. These support the academic programme which, by means of superb teachers, innovative methodologies, small classes and a stimulating environment ensure that each boy truly finds his niche and reaches his full potential.

The ages ten through to thirteen are a critical phase in the development of every boy. As boys leave their early childhood years and move into puberty and early adolescence, opportunities are provided for boys to develop a genuine sense of self worth and growth in confidence.

All activities and approaches, which take place in an energetic and exciting environment, are carefully designed to meet the needs of Preparatory School boys. Sports and physical activities are critical components in the development of boys. Summer sporting codes include tennis, cricket, basketball, swimming and athletics. Grade 7 boys are introduced to rowing in the third term. In winter, boys choose from soccer, rugby, tennis, hockey, basketball and tennis. A large number of fixtures against the local State Schools and other Independent Schools are arranged. This enables a large number of teams to be fielded. As such, opportunities are created for all boys to play in teams and to represent the school.

At St Benedict’s Preparatory School there is a place for every boy to participate and to excel! An important characteristic of St Benedict’s is the Religious component of school life. Gospel values and Christian virtues underpin all approaches and activities. Boys from all religious denominations are accommodated at St Benedict’s.

Cultural activities are very popular. A wide variety of clubs and societies are offered. From Choir to the Chess Club, from the Marimba Band to the Recorder Group, from Culture Vulture Club to the Outreach Club and from the Drama Group to “English Alive”, there is a place for every boy to express himself. St Benedict’s Preparatory also promotes the development of boys through two active Cub Scout Packs.
