School Type: Co-Educational

Our College is a happy blend of history, community and caring about people. Our primary customers, the learners, all find their school a place they look forward to coming to. They are appreciated here. They are rewarded here. Their achievements are celebrated here.

VISION

Cornwall Hill College is a leading co-educational, independent school based on Christian principles and committed to serving its community. The school provides a curriculum that is holistic and relevant, producing independent, lifelong learners. Each individual is challenged to think, investigate and grow in a nurturing environment that encourages personal excellence and accountability.

MISSION

In partnership with parents and quality educators, using innovative and dynamic teaching methods and excellent facilities, we provide each learner, on their way to responsible adulthood. with the opportunity of acquiring Christian values, meaningful knowledge and relevant skills that will equip them to succeed in a challenging and ever-changing world.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Cornwall Hill College offers quality education to learners from Grade 000 to Grade 12 (3 to 18 years of age).

PRE-SCHOOL is a time of 'Learning through Experience', therefore everything we do in this phase is classified as learning. Love and acceptance are given in many forms and limitless amounts. Very close attention is paid to each child's progress.

In our JUNIOR PREPARATORY phase, emphasis is placed on acquisition of basic skills in numeracy and literacy. Teaching methods become more formal and children experience noticeable division in classroom timetables requiring self-discipline and organisational skills being taught. The atmosphere is friendly, quiet and stimulating and a climate of nurturing is very evident in our school.

In the SENIOR PREPARATORY we have been careful to retain the strengths of traditional and proven teaching methods to ensure the perpetuation of high standards. In so doing, we remain committed to preparing our learners to work towards meeting the challenges of nation building and the needs of our country, in addition to ensuring high academic standards.

In January 2003 Cornwall Hill College embarked on the introduction of a bold new education innovation - a JUNIOR COLLEGE. The transfer of the Grade 7 learners into their logical place as secondary learners has many advantages. It brings learners in Grades 7, 8 and 9 into a peer group unitthat encourages leadership, achievement and maximises learning opportunities in a supportive, specialised environment.

In the SENIOR COLLEGE we seek to promote the academic development of learners and also their personal development. At the end of Grade 12 learners write the Independent Examination Board's senior certificate exam. High academic standards and wide involvement in the co-curricular programme reflect our belief in the idea of an education in the broadest sense. We also believe that we must prepare our learners for the modern world. It is vital also to give them knowledge and understanding of the 'real' world and important choices which will determine their career values and lifestyle as adults.

CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMME

A pro-active Outreach Programme extends the awareness of our learners into the world beyond the classroom. The College supports a number of causes and reaches out to and interacts with selected disadvantaged communities.

We are proud of our school and the school is proud of its learners - it is they that make this College such a special place to be.
