ABOUT DARLING COLLEGE
At Darling College, we strive to offer a balanced, relevant, interesting and stimulating educational programme. Darling College is a dual medium, co-educational, independent school. Being such a small school with a country-side atmosphere and Christian values, we are much like a big family. The staff is dedicated and cares about the learners, giving them a lot of individual attention.
Umalusi did a site visit at our school early in 2007. We are proud to announce that Umalusi were very impressed with all our policies, but even more impressed to see that these policies are put to practice daily. Darling College is now recommended as a candidate for full accreditation.
External assessment was done by ISASA’S IQAA in 2005. Two independent assessors assessed Darling College in November 2009 and we passed with excellent results. Our learners have to board when going to the various high schools. They adapt easily and report back with pride how good the grounding was that Darling College gave them.
MISSION STATEMENT
At Darling College we strive to create a safe, happy learning environment, where learners are nurtured in a country setting and stimulated to be creative, inquisitive, industrious, adaptable and accountable. The Christian ethos is our bedrock; we teach and practise patriotism, tolerance and respect. We aim to motivate our learners to be self confident in their own special abilities and to be able to make a meaningful contribution within their community and the world at large.
HISTORY
In January 1998, after months of hard work by a small group of dedicated parents, Darling College opened its doors to nineteen learners and two teachers. After only one year, the number of pupils had grown by 100%.
During 1999 we were registered at the Western Cape Education Department as an independent school, and we have also become a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA).
We celebrated our tenth year of existence in 2008 with 91 pupils. In 2010 our learner count is 97.
