Berghof Pre-primary School is situated in Hermanus – heart of the Cape Overberg and caters for the needs of Afrikaans and English speaking children from 2 years to 6 years. (Grade R).
The school was founded in 1989 by Gill de Kock. It started as a playgroup with 10 children. By 1996 it reached capacity with 4 classes, 6 teachers and 70 children. There has been no desire to expand as we feel the school is the correct size to give the children the time and attention they deserve and need.
We have continued our philosophy to create one of the best independent pre-primary schools in the region. With hard work and the support of our parents and learners, we grow from strength to strength by continuously improving our curriculum, facility and personal services.
Our vision is to provide quality education through the means of play to empower children to develop the necessary skills so that they can be responsible and meaningful in society.
The teachers provide an integrated teaching approach where children are free to learn, explore and experiment within an environment offering a variety of free choice activities.
The teachers concentrate on getting to know and to develop the child as a whole including physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
The children learn through play and are gently guided towards independence "play is a child's work."
