Kainon School
Kainon School

School Type: Co-Educational

KAINON SCHOOL MISSION:

Kainon School is a small independent co-educational Junior and Senior Primary Christian School. We are situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Palmiet Reserve in Westville North. As a result the children experience an abundance of animal and bird life. The school is easily accessible from the main thoroughfares of Westville, Durban.

Kainon School cares about every aspect of the child.  The school aims to nurture the spiritual, moral, academic, social, athletic and artistic well-being of each and every child.  The focus is on integrating these various facets into a holistic, multi-disciplinary way of teaching.  Religion is a part of this balance in everyday life.

KAINON SCHOOL VISION:

Our philosophy aims to equip our children for a lifetime of usefulness, and success in their community and country and focuses on the importance of eternal happiness.

Kainon aims at all times to provide an education to children which is:

  • Relevant - national development needs
  • Integrated i.e. a unifying approach to education and training.
  • We aim to provide coherence and credibility through following the New Revised National Curriculum and New Church curricula.
  • Our focus is to allow for flexibility in encouraging learners to reach learning ends through following multiple pathways.

THE KAINON SCHOOL ETHOS:

At Kainon School, we offer academic excellence as well as a well-rounded extracurricular programme. The learners represent all the people of South Africa. In keeping with the Kainon tradition, we acknowledge the time honoured values of In Usibus Felicitas (Happiness in a useful Life) in all we do.

EDUCATION:

The school caters for Grade R-Grade 7. Kainon focuses on a high academic standard in line with the national curriculum, embedded with strong Christian morals and values. Although the small classes and parental involvement allow for individual attention and hands-on learning, we are not a Remedial School.

Kainon offers the full spectrum of Play-School, Pre-Primary, Grade 1 Bridging Class, Junior Primary, Senior Primary and After-Care. We are an active, fun filled community school, where classes are small and learning is big!

SPORTS AND CULTURE OFFERED:

Athletics, Cricket, Netball, Soccer, Cross Country, Hockey, Tennis, Speech and Drama, Music, Choir, Stage Productions, Life-skills training, Entrepreneurship, field trips and outreach projects. Sport is offered to both Junior Primary (mini league) and Senior Primary children.

RELIGIOUS IDENTITY:

Kainon School was founded as a New Church school and continues to teach from this religious perspective. The New Church is a Christian religion that brings out clear teaching from the Bible to understand life and spirituality.

From this religious background, Kainon feels strongly about teaching children the values and skills they need for a successful and happy life. By building the community around family values that help children grow to be confident and kind, Kainon aims to develop each child into a complete person.

We are looking for families that have a similar approach to parenting and life, so that together we consistently teach our children the correct values. We invite you to look at what we stand for and to contact us should you be interested in viewing our school.
