Mission statement:
“To educate and train persons from a biblical standpoint in both secular and spiritual disciplines to function as servants and leaders in South Africa”
Vaal Christian School has always made available to the ‘whosoever’ excellent Christian education at exceptionally affordable fees. The school has grown from 30 scholars in 1987 to the present day total of 800.
The school has a policy of having small class groups. We have a well equipped computer science laboratory, and optional computer literacy classes are presented from Grade 1. The school has a school library, a well equipped Home Economics centre and a Physical Sciences laboratory.
The school has achieved the status of being one of the top 50 schools in the Free State (Public and Independent) for the past 4 years. It is also only one of four independent schools in the Free State to achieve the Umalusi three year provisional accreditation.
The school has a six point vision:
- Educating and disciplining of children
- Recognition and promotion of South African culture
- Promotion of love of nature and land
- Restoration of family
- Creation of Ubuntu (caring)
- Lives that reflect Christian morals and standards
Extra curricular activities include choir (participation in arts festivals, parents’ days, and school assemblies and outside performances), drama, league soccer, netball, and athletics.
Excursions to e.g. Cape Town, Gold Reef City, and Qwa Qwa for sporting competitions form part of the annual school calendar.
The boarding school is housed in a cluster of houses each run by either a husband and wife team or a mother/gogo (for the smaller children). This creates an atmosphere of family and caring. The boarding school can accommodate 320 pupils.
