ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Tyger Valley College has formed a partnership with  Africa Nature Training - a specialist environmental education company - to create an  integrated learning programme with a strong environmental ethos, and:

• To impress on our young people the need for a sustainable environment.
• To impart, through enjoyment, knowledge of an exciting world that exists outside urban boundaries.
• To expose learners to the bush and the wonders it contains through age appropriate field trips.
• To culminate at senior level in an accredited diploma in Environmental Studies that learners will be able to use to pursue careers that will contribute to saving our world.

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Tyger Valley College will offer a comprehensive programme of visual and performing arts activities that will ensure that young people with artistic talent are fully catered for.

Tyger Valley will have access to the following facilities:

• A fully equipped theatre associated with a prominent performing arts company.
• Dance studios with sprung wooden floors, viewing areas, change rooms, performing area and classrooms.
• A fully equipped art centre with teaching venues and art  studios.
• The College will thus be equipped over time, to offer specialised tuition in:
• Artistic disciplines such as painting, photography, jewellery design and ceramics.
• Musical options such as piano, orchestral instruments, choral and individual singing, jazz and classical performance.
• A full range of dance and drama activities with the opportunity for frequent performances.

ACADEMIC AND LEARNING SUPPORT

Tyger Valley College will offer a structured and specialised learning support programme designed to achieve the following:

• A full neuro-development assessment of learners at a young age to establish soundness of nerve function, sight, hearing and balance.
• Integrated learning therapy for all pre-preparatory learners to strengthen learning skills.
• On site occupational and speech therapists with full facilities to attend to children’s needs.
• Provide an in-service team to train teachers and parents in the management of learners’ learning needs.
• Ensuring that gifted children remain stimulated by     providing challenging learning opportunities.

THE SPORTS INSTITUTE

Tyger Valley College is working with sports specialists to provide the following expert inputs for our learners:

• A structured, systematic physical education curriculum that focuses on fun in exercise for all age groups.
• Regular professional evaluation of learners to establish areas of strength in physical activity and monitor individual development.
• High quality specialised coaching for all sports.
• Guidance for our sportsmen and women on sports nutrition, physiology, sports psychology and exercise.
• Dedicated academies in key sports that will prepare selected participants for provincial and international competition.
