ELSEN Academy is a school that caters specifically for children with learning challenges, e.g. ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc. It is presently a primary school but plans to phase in a high school section beginning with Grade 8 in 2008.

Our main objective is to accommodate unique learning styles through differentiated instruction, our modified RNCS curriculum and the use of IEPs (Individual Educational Plans) and to guide and support our learners to function independently and become productive citizens.

Our small classes of no more than 10 or 12 learners, guarantee that learners are given individual attention throughout the school day. The intimate school environment encourages parents to be involved in their children’s learning and development. The learners at ELSEN Academy also receive individual therapy such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Play Therapy, Physiotherapy and Remedial Therapy once or twice a week. This intervention will further improve their learning potential.

ELSEN Academy has an excellent and experienced management team and an outstanding staff of specialised and dedicated teachers and therapists. In their individual capacity, the staff at ELSEN Academy have had many years of experience working with, and treating children with special educational needs.

The Cognitive Programme, which is implemented throughout the school by our School Psychologist, has an excellent track record and we believe that it will improve the learners’ ability to become more independent students.

Our ELSEN Therapy Centre does educational assessments for the general public and for the school. They currently operate from the same premises and are strongly linked to the school itself.

Our extra-mural activities include horse-riding, hip-hop dancing, chess, cricket/soccer, beading classes and graphic design.
