School Type: Co-Educational

King's School is situated in Nottingham Road, a small village 60km north west of Pietermaritzburg, between Balgowan and Mooi River.  The school grounds cover some ten hectares of land that includes a natural wetland, a dam and a small plantation, as well as two sports fields and a swimming pool, and plenty of space for the children to be children. The clean air and rural setting provide a healthy environment.

King's is a Primary school, offering tuition in all the usual learning areas to children from Grade 0 to Grade 7. Its first practical aim is to instruct the children in such a way that they will easily manage the demands of any senior school.  More broadly speaking, we set out to produce a whole person, self-reliant and aware of the obligations to a society in which he or she lives.

Staffed by dedicated professionals who facilitate the development of moral integrity, responsibility, respect and consideration,  King’s School maintains excellent academic standards and offers a variety of enrichment programmes. A curriculum emphasis on Arts and Culture, Environmental and Social awareness results in vital and meaningful learning.

With excellent teachers and small classes, King's has the capacity to give special attention to the individual development of each child.  Classroom numbers are seldom more than fifteen.

The school has a range of professional support staff.  A small computer center ensures that all children acquire basic information technology skills.  The school encourages a love for reading, and has a small but well stocked library to support this crucial activity.   King’s is well-known for its Shakespeare productions, produced by talented and professional drama personnel. Art, Drama and Music forms part our Cultural Programme.

Small numbers, achieve big results!  We are proud to produce sport stars with provincial A team selections in cricket. King’s School offers swimming, cricket, rugby, soccer, hockey, netball and cross country. If your child fancies horse riding, rhythmic gymnastics, fly fishing, advanced art, music, drama,  judo or chess then King’s is the school for you, instructed by professional private providers.

Our excellent academic standards are evident in the high school bursaries and closed scholarships offered by prominent high schools e.g. Michaelhouse. A long list of past scholars rising above the average in society, includes doctors, jewelry designers in Paris, architects and entrepreneurs one of whom was voted as KwaZulu-Natal businessman of the year.

King's School offers tuition to boarders and day scholars.  Full boarding and weekly boarding options are available. Day scholars receive a full lunch and can be accommodated at the school until 5.30 pm daily.  Afternoon sports and clubs are available to all.  Supervised homework is done in the late afternoon.

Host to the Nottingham Sherwood Festival, King’s scholars have the opportunity to explore their entrepreneurial abilities in authentic market settings.
