Academic Programme

The school was established in 1988 by Southcity Church International. Southcity is an independent school, providing pre-primary, primary and secondary education through the medium of English.

At Southcity we offer a broad and balanced academic programme with a wide variety of subject options that can accommodate pupils of varied abilities.

In the Junior School a superb cross-curricular programme with unique yet relevant content is taught in a loving environment facilitating academic problem solving and building a solid foundation for the years ahead.

In the college, students write the IEB (Independent Examination Board) National examination. Students are extended and encouraged to grow in personal discipline and responsibility where leadership skills are recognised and developed.

A balance between the arts, humanities and sciences provides a wide scope of subject choices for each individual’s needs.

We promote the pursuit of personal excellence both in academic study and in our comprehensive co-curricular programme. We are proud of the self-motivation, self-confidence and independence nurtured in our pupils by enthusiastic and qualified staff all of who are committed Christians.

Co-Curricular Programme

We recognise the benefits of team participation and the need to develop individual talents. All pupils are afforded the opportunity to become involved on a competitive or social level.

With our extra mural programme we provide the opportunity for individuals to grow spiritually and in self confidence through drama, dance, music, choir, debating, discipleship training and public speaking and the Eco-club to name but a few.

An outreach programme into the community is being developed and slowly gaining momentum whereby pupils have the opportunity to help and serve others and thereby gain a social awareness through the support of local charities, AIDS orphanages, sport development programmes, the environmental club and the like.

Sports

A number of major sports include athletics, hockey, swimming, netball, cricket, soccer and rugby. Minor sports such as cross-country, squash, tennis, volleyball, surfing and bodyboarding are also encouraged.
