Creston College

School Type: Co-Educational

Creston College is an independent school situated on the picturesque South Coast of Natal. The college's Christian ethos insures that the values of integrity, self-discipline, independent thinking and respect are part of the fibre of the school and it is within this framework that the academics and co-curricular programmes find their shape and form. Independence is taken seriously and Creston is committed to providing an environment where children are "coached" in leadership skills.

Creston College successfully caters for grade 00 through to grade 12. The Grade 0 children follow a stimulating and challenging school-readiness programme, and the pre-primary phase is included in assemblies, sporting, cultural and social activities, thereby familiarising these children with the rest of the College.

The junior primary and senior primary curriculum aims to provide a sound educational foundation, using an integrated thematic approach. A variety of themes develop knowledge, skills and values in three learning areas: Literacy, Numeracy and Life Orientation.

The Middle School, an exciting innovation, consists of Grade 8 and 9 pupils and aims to develop in the pupils, essential life skills, a good understanding of self, and appreciation of particular personal skills, and a willingness and ability to reach their full potential in the areas of responsibility, participation and leadership.

The College Phase offers a variety of subject options en route to an Independent Examinations Board matric. The IEB certificate is Internationally accepted by universities in countries such as Canada and the UK, America, Australia and New Zealand, and most of South Africa's independent schools write the IEB examinations. Creston College takes responsibility for training our pupils to be leaders in the SA context. The development of leadership requires both a harmonious society for leadership training to succeed, and a common vision where each person has a role to play in the success of the school.

Creston College also offers a variety of art and cultural activities to pupils and up to date IT training also forms an integral part of all phases. Creston pupils are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-mural activities as well, such as: Mini-Cricket, Netball, Athletics, Swimming, Rugby, Mini-Hockey, Cross-country and Body-boarding.
