The primary goal of the school is to foster the happiness and the emotional, physical, intellectual and social development of the learner.
To achieve this we aim to create an environment where pupils are inspired to become responsible, effective citizens and future managers of the world. We aim to encourage good attitudes in our pupils as well as knowledge and skills allowing them to make informed and ethical decisions.
How important it is that a child feels loved and special not for what he does or has or wins, but for who he is.
Pre-Primary Department
We moved into our new environment in May 2007, paying special attention to the development of the outdoor area with the aim of providing a stimulating and enticing area for unstructured yet meaningful and educational experiences.
The herb garden was originally designed to stimulate the senses of the children in a natural and non - obtrusive manner, allowing the exploration of the environment by means of touch, sight, taste, smell and sound. It, however, soon developed into an environment that allowed the child to escape the pressures of a highly technological and artificial world. The area affords them the opportunity to experience and explore the plant kingdom and all its wonders in a spontaneous and concrete manner.
We are privileged to have an expansive indoor area, allowing adequate space for different work areas. There is a creative work space where the children can paint, draw, sculpture and create to their hearts content. Both the Grade 00s and 000s work simultaneously during creative activities, enabling differentiation to take place easily, as the children needing practice can slot in with the younger children, while those needing expansion are given extra activities.
The second area is for all the developmental activities requiring space. Here we balance, run, skip, dance and play games.
The third area is for the lessons where the children need to listen and concentrate in a quieter and more structured setting. During these activities we teach each group separately which enables us to concentrate on the assessment of the level of skill development specific to each age.
Our activities are developed around weekly themes and cover all the eight learning areas including technology and science. Our equipment on the shelves is graded, enabling further differentiation when it comes to early mathematics and language.
