Christel House South Africa is a school whose main focus is transformational - breaking the cycle of poverty and forever changing the lives of its children and their families.
Our learners come from some of the poorest communities of Cape Town. As such they come from a culture of neglect, poverty, abuse and abandonment and as a result frequently lack not only opportunities, but also self-esteem, confidence and dignity. Multiple strategies are used to help learners maximise their potential and achieve success.
The school is a registered section 21 not for profit organisation providing learners with education, healthcare, food, transport and uniforms at no cost to the families.
Christel House offers:
- 'One stop' schooling from Grade 1 to Grade 12
- Small classes with high quality education
- Our teachers not only possess excellent teaching skills, but demonstrate a capacity to love above and beyond the call of duty.
- Over and above the National Curriculum, we teach computer skills, art, music, life-skills and vocational guidance.
- We provide a comprehensive healthcare program that covers medical, dental, vision and hearing care.
- A qualified social worker counsels not only our children, but assists their parents and those organisations who house or care for children.
Regular outreach programs are conducted amongst the parents and communities to teach social skills and build a sense of involvement.
