School Type: Co-Educational

Grantleigh School is situated on the farm of Fred and Renette Grant at Mposa, just north of Richards Bay/Empangeni on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. The school was founded in 1997 with a handful of civvie-clad children and one teacher in the home of Fred and Renette Grant on their farm in Mposa.

Today, eight years later, Grantleigh has grown into a thriving school community with 670 pupils from Grade 00 to Grade 12. Limited Boarding is now offered for the first time in well appointed residences.

Grantleigh is housed in beautiful custom designed and built school buildings and is located in a tranquil setting amidst sugarcane plantations and trees. Tuition takes place under the professional guidance of over 50 top calibre educators. 2003 marked our first matric class writing the Independent Examination Board examinations.

The dynamic growth of the school is largely due to the vision, passion and faith of its founders, Fred and Renette Grant. Yet deeper than the amazing physical development of Grantleigh is something much stronger and almost indefinable that makes Grantleigh very special.

The constancy in the midst of growth and change, is the caring of the members of the Grantleigh family towards one another, the "familyness" of the school and the delight of the children in this unique learning environment.  These aspects are what give Grantleigh its own unique character, and places an indelible stamp on each child passing through our school.

The quiet, safe environment also facilitates learning and a focused, high quality education.  An ethos of self-discipline has been established. This, coupled with a friendly atmosphere based on the concept of a family unit encourages pupils to achieve their primary goal: learning and self-esteem. The learning process is further enhanced by students experiencing excursions to other environments. These field visits broaden the education of students.

The school prides itself on the quality and diversity of cultural activities offered. Music, Drama, Art and Singing form an integral part of the school culture and Grantleigh is well respected within the community for this aspect of the school life.

Sports Education is seen as a critical element of a pupil's education with the aim being to equip all students with the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to maintain a healthy lifestyle- regardless of their physical abilities. Horse riding is also available nearby for those who are interested.

The school values each student as an individual and aims to help each one to reach the highest levels of his or her own achievement.
