Felixton College is set in a country atmosphere in the village of Felixton, 12 kilometres south of Empangeni. It offers a balanced, co-educational curriculum of high standard in a secure, caring environment.
There is an acceptance at Felixton that every learner is a complex and variously talented person deserving of individual development. For that reason, our class numbers are limited and our school will always be relatively small.Small enough to retain a "family feel", yet large enough to offer each pupil the scope to develop his or her own special potential.
At Felixton we respect and make every effort to understand and accept each person's individuality, religion, culture and background. We encourage freedom of thought and expression and are committed to innovative, stimulating and creative teaching practices that lead to the development of the whole person.
Felixton College has small classes and all classrooms are tastefully decorated and air-conditioned. We follow the Outcomes Based Education programme up to the end of Grade 9, when our pupils write the GETC.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) syllabi are followed from Grades 10 to 12, culminating in the internationally recognised IEB matriculation examinations. We are proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate in matric since the inception of the school. Computer skills are our special strength and each pupil has an e-mail address and unlimited access to the Internet for research purposes.
Felixton College was the first independent school north of the Tugela to offer boarding to boys and girls three years ago and we pride ourselves in our "home from home" facilities. The boarding establishment is run on a small family scale, with teaching couple Shawn and Izel Thomson heading the two houses, Daffon House for the boys and Nottingham House for the girls. In addition there are resident teacher interns on each site to assist with the day-to-day running of the houses.
The College has a swimming pool, as well as tennis and squash facilities, and a 9-hole golf course close at hand. Our children have many opportunities for relaxation once their work is complete.
