We take pleasure in introducing HeronBridge College to you. Located in the heart of the prime development 10km north of Fourways, where the two Jukskei rivers meet, this unique College with it¹s architecturally designed buildings, lawns, trees and a beautiful river flowing through the property will find a place in your heart.

HeronBridge is perfectly positioned to provide you with the facility your family will need.  Choosing this location for your child is about choosing a lifestyle - space, natural surrounds, an environment conducive to a culture of learning.

The College began in 2001, serving first the needs of pre-preparatory children. It aims to provide an education of the highest quality, developing the child academically, culturally, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Small class sizes with favourable teacher: pupil ratios ensure the fundamental ethos of care and concern for the individual.  Solid foundations are laid with an active Life Orientation programme ensuring a relevance to all that we do.

HeronBridge consists of a Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and College, and offers a co-educational facility for children from Grade 000 through to Grade 12.

A full aftercare programme effectively extends the school day where children are collected and cared for by professionals who oversee extramural involvement.

HeronBridge offers a multitude of different sporting activities for pupils in every phase, from mini-cricket and ball skills for juniors through to main line sports in the senior phase.  The state-of-the art facilities accommodate
a full cultural programme with ease, affording opportunities in the areas of music, art and drama.

We strive to equip each learner and build up all aspects of the individual¹s character. Parents are the child¹s primary educators and as such are our biggest asset in achieving this end. Activities geared to build the family and establish strong interpersonal relationships with both child and parent are very much a part of the HeronBridge programme.

Our local vision is to equip your children, unearth their personal potential, fill them with confidence and build up the family.  Our global vision is to raise up a new generation of nation builders that are full of integrity, impacting our region, nation and the global community itself.

The school is founded upon solid Christian principles with local churches represented in an advisory capacity.  Our strong leadership team has a passion and a vision for the future of education.  This vision and culture extends from the child to the parents and to the community at large.

Our Motto, Ad Integritatem, means 'towards integrity' and it is this value that underscores HeronBridge College's efforts at every level. Our Heads of School represent us in various ISASA and SAHISA executives and actively guide a full complement of well-qualified academic staff.

Registered with the Independent Schools Association of South Africa, HeronBridge College presently subscribes to the Revisied National Curriculum and its associated Outcomes Based Approach.

HeronBridge Pre-Preparatory's passion for early childhood development places an emphasis on the importance of play and perceptual motor skills, setting the scene for active and effective learning in the formal school years. The Independent Examination Board sets the benchmark for our school leavers' certification.

All key learning areas are extensively covered through a comprehensive and progressional curriculum, with a focus on higher order thinking skills and problem solving.  The subjects on offer include English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Art, Drama, Music, Computer Studies, Design and Technology, Social Sciences (History and Geography), Natural Sciences (Biology and Physical Science), Bible Education, Physical Education and Life Orientation.

Two computer centres provide the pupils with modern technology and readily available facilities.  Beyond their formal instruction in computer literacy, the children may use the spacious media centre to study and complete assignments.

Sporting activities involve the teams in inter-school leagues, whilst an energetic Arts and Culture Department brings HeronBridge College enviable repute across the region.  The extramural proramme balances a tension between competitive practice and participation by all pupils.  In the Foundation Phase, Grade One and Two children enjoy the 'Intergrated Day' wherein all their extramurals are timetabled for them.  Through the programme they are exposed to a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities. Competitive participation begins at the age of nine and continues to the final year of school.

With variation allowed to accomodate different age groups a typical week in the life of a pupil could include:

  • boarding the school bus to get to or from school;
  • periods of independent study and research assignments;
  • completing homework at the aftercare;
  • a practice session, match or league event related to any one or more of the main sporting codes : cricket, tennis, netball, hockey, soccer, swimming, water polo, rugby, athletics or cross country.
  • a spin on a mountain bike;
  • picnics at the river;
  • rehearsals for the major production;
  • a session with the choir;
  • entry into the regional eisteddford
  • specialised tuition in drama, pottery, computers, chess, modern dance, hip hop, ballet, photography;
  • debating and public speaking; a school social or excursion;
  • College Councillors' meeting and outreach activities.

To be associated with HeronBridge College is to enjoy an ethos, an environment, conducive to the development of children in the present and a culture that will impact their lives into the future.
