School Type: Special Needs

Flamboyant School has been in existence since 1985 and was started in response to the need for remedial education in the Mpumalanga Lowveld. Flamboyant operates within a non-discriminatory, Christian ethos and we aspire to provide every pupil with the opportunities and skills to achieve to their full potential.

We cater for pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 9 who are of average to above average intellect and who have barriers to effective learning. Parallel medium English and Afrikaans classes are offered.

We follow a mainstream curriculum with the view to returning pupils to mainstream schools when and where appropriate. Flamboyant has a small boarding facility which caters for a maximum of 50 pupils offering weekly boarding.

Flamboyant pupils are normal children with different capabilities and abilities in different areas. Flamboyant candidates have an average to above average intellectual potential, however they struggle to read, write, spell or do mathematics successfully. Often parents of Flamboyant candidates feel that their child can do / achieve so much better. It is very often a pupil who struggles to focus his attention and is unable to concentrate effectively in class.

What do we offer?

  • Small classes – 10:1 in the Foundation Phase, 12:1 in the Senior Primary and Junior Secondary Phase
