Indigenous flora, including aloes, acacia and mopane trees, coupled with a bounteous bird life create an organic and tranquil environment in which Pepps Polokwane has flourished over the past twelve years.
THE VISION
The school was established in 1991 with the purpose of serving the needs of the community. At that time, within the Limpopo province (then Northern Transvaal), there was no school that offered quality education for all. Thus, the school’s vision of ‘Making a difference by opening doors to a bright tomorrow’ was forged.
This vision continues to steer our present course. In the past our parent/guardian body has incorporated domestic workers, truck-drivers, struggling single parents and grandparents who put aside every spare rand available to ensure for their children the opportunities they never had. We commit to securing the dreams of such parents for their children.
Pepps Polokwane offers competitive, quality-oriented education sustainable to the middle-income earner. As an independent school we are committed to affordable excellence, rather than exclusivity.
THE MISSION
The school motto of ‘Success through endeavour’ nurtures a spirit of diligence and perseverance within the learners. Learners are encouraged to try their hand at varied activities. Extra-mural activities are compulsory and form an integral part of the school programme. Activities include: athletics, chess, choir, cricket, debating, drama, netball, public speaking, scripture union, swimming and soccer.
It is our aim to develop the learners’ sense of physical well-being and their ability to work in a group. Involvement in extra-mural activities, coupled with classroom activities, furthers the fulfilment of social goals: developing effective social interaction based on tolerance, respect, regard for authority and an awareness of the needs of the community.
The staff provide a progressive education in a caring environment. We aim for excellence by developing, nurturing and guiding individuals to achieve their full potential. As in any quality-driven educational environment, cultivating independent thinking is an essential component of all lessons.
In order for the learners to fully appreciate the truly diverse society in which we live, a strong trend in our teaching is the appreciation, not only of their own culture, but also the culture of others. Coupled with this is the moral goal of nurturing positive attitudes and values. To meet the demands of the technological age, computer studies is taken by all pupils. Matric pupils all write computer studies as a seventh subject.
The matriculation of our first Grade 12 group in 1999 validated the positive learning environment at Pepps. Since then we have achieved a 100% pass rate and have maintained an exemption rate of above 70%.
