
St Nicholas is an Independent Anglican School for boys and girls from Pre-Primary to Grade 9. Its aim is to be a relevant South African School which offers excellent education and provides a secure and caring environment where learners are given the opportunity to realise their potential. ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
The school caters for learners from pre-Primary to Grade 9. The medium of instruction is English, and the academic programme is based on an integrated approach. All learning areas are well provided for, with small classes and a central location allowing for extension activities and outings based on classroom themes.
An up-to-date media centre offers access to information through the medium of a well stocked library and technology centre. Environmental and Social Responsibility education are included in the curriculum, and fostered through school outreach projects.
THE SPIRITUAL DIMENSION
At the heart of St Nicholas is its Christian faith, which is reflected in its Anglican ethos. The school chapel is used extensively by staff and learners. A holistic approach nurtures the emotional and spiritual well-being of every child.
SPORT
Although it is a young school, it offers a wide variety of sporting codes including basketball, soccer, netball, cricket, hockey, rugby, squash, athletics and swimming. The sporting facilities are extensive and well maintained. Physical Education is also part of the curriculum and the values of good sportsmanship and co-operation are fostered.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
St Nicholas has an excellent reputation for cultural activities, which include music, choirs, a steel drum band, dance, art and drama. Additional activities like keyboard lessons, ballet, judo and chess are also available to learners.
BOARDING
Boarding for boys and girls from Gr 1 to 9 on a full-time or weekly basis is offered. Boarders are cared for by committed staff, in secure surroundings, and the needs of the children are given priority.
AFTER-CARE FACILITIES
These are offered free to all day scholars until 5.00pm. The surroundings are safe and well equipped. In the Foundation Phase, supervision of homework by experienced teachers is included.
