"St. Cyprian's is a school which has consciously striven for excellence without elitism and has achieved this delicate balance..." ~ Archbishop Desmond Tutu
St Cyprian's School mirrors the eclectic diversity of South African Society. Firmly grounded in Faith and Anglican principles, she is a progressive girls boarding and day School in the heart of Cape Town. Founded in 1871 by Bishop Robert Gray, she has built on the strong foundation of the commitment and values of The All Souls Community.
She has moved firmly and with excitement into the twenty first century. Honouring the rights of young women to make their mark in society, she encourages freedom of thought and a broad education over and above mere academic excellence. Table Mountain holds, at its foot, the strength and gentleness of a school which nurtures the individual, stresses the individual’s capacity for excellence and is committed to making a difference.
An African member of the Round Square International Conference of Schools, St Cyprian's School has a remarkable staff of men and women who are leaders in their profession, and vibrant role models for young people. She is blessed by the dedication of her staff and the support of her parent body; she is blessed to be able to offer considerable educational experience to all who engage with her.
Situated on the floor above the classrooms of the main building is Katherine House which provides a home for over 100 St Cyprian’s girls. While encouraging the girls to be independent, a safe environment is provided by a caring, multidisciplinary team. Emphasis is on the individual needs of each child. There is a comprehensive programme for full boarders over weekends. We accept boarders from Grade 4 to grade 12; from all over Southern Africa. In addition, girls come from Europe, the UAE and the Far East.
We are proud to be an adventurous South African School in a free, democratic land; a school which has a place in international society and which strives to educate the Girl Child in Afrika.
