ISASA is urging member schools that are involved in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector to please review the recently-gazetted Draft ECD Policy, which is now open for public comment.
According to the draft policy, the government has prioritised ECD as there is overwhelming scientific evidence that reveals the importance of the early years for human development and for the need to invest resources to support and promote optimal child development from conception.
The policy is aimed at transforming ECD service delivery in South Africa, and ensuring the provision of a comprehensive, equitable system.
ISASA’s Policy Unit is compiling a collective response to the draft policy and member schools are welcome to send any comments to S’thembiso Ntuli by no later than 17 April 2015.
